What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 3 October 2022 · Last inspected 28 July 2022

Inspectors visited Ashley Court Care Home, a residential and nursing home for up to 38 older people, including people living with dementia, and found that people received person-centred care with staff and managers who were open and well regarded. People and relatives said there were enough staff, that they felt safe, and that they were included and well supported. Inspectors also found the home working with other health professionals and supporting people's choice and control.

Strengths noted
  • People and relatives spoke highly of staff and the management team and felt included and well supported.
  • Care was person-centred, with individual characteristics considered in planning.
  • Potential risks were assessed and reviewed, with equipment such as alert mats and pressure-relieving equipment in use.
  • The registered manager and management team were open, transparent and focused on improvement, and worked in partnership with other health professionals.
Areas to improve
  • Staff recruitment files were missing some information, such as gaps in education and work history, which were not explored during recruitment; this is a breach of regulations.
  • Good practice was not always followed when storing medicines, and procedures and records for administering external medicines such as creams were unclear.
  • Essential fire alarm system repairs identified in February 2022 were completed only in August 2022.
