What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 17 February 2023 · Last inspected 4 January 2023

Inspectors found the home had systems that were not always effective, and that people's rights to make decisions and to be supported in the least restrictive way were not consistently recorded, though the manager had an action plan. Care plans and risk assessments were regularly reviewed, staff worked with outside professionals, and relationships with people, relatives and staff were described as positive. Activities were varied and people said they enjoyed them.

Strengths noted
  • Positive relationships between staff, people using the service and their relatives
  • Regular activities, with evidence of recent participation displayed and shared in newsletters
  • Complaints were investigated and actions taken to reduce the chance of them happening again
  • Staff understood how to report concerns, and referrals were made promptly when health declined
Areas to improve
  • Mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions were not consistently recorded, and deprivation of liberty had not been considered
  • Some problems with laundry affected people's dignity, with clothing sometimes mislaid or lost
  • Medicine records did not consistently show where a pain-relieving patch had been applied, and one risk assessment was not accurate
