What inspectors found
CQC: Requires improvementReport published 19 June 2023 · Last inspected 5 June 2023
Inspectors looked at medicines handling, infection control, and the wider quality of care at this 36-bed home, which supports older people living with dementia and people with a learning disability. Staff were described as kind, attentive and well informed about individual needs, with people taking part in tailored activities and having real choice over their surroundings. Inspectors found that the home's approach to monitoring medicines and its understanding of abuse reporting still needed strengthening.
- Staff were described as caring, respectful of privacy and dignity, and responsive to individual needs
- People had meaningful, personalised activities and opportunities to try new things
- The environment was clean, well equipped and suited to people's sensory and physical needs
- Staff worked with people to plan for periods of distress, limiting restrictions to what was necessary
- Medicines were not always monitored safely enough to achieve the best health outcomes, which is a breach of regulation
- Not all staff fully understood the different forms of abuse or who to report concerns to outside the organisation
- Auditing systems needed review to ensure they identify ongoing monitoring needs for health conditions and medicines
