About

Herons Park Nursing Home sits in quiet parkland at Spennells Wood, about five minutes' drive from Kidderminster town centre in the Wyre Forest district of Worcestershire. Formal gardens and patio areas surround the building, and raised garden beds, tended by residents, are set at wheelchair height. The home provides nursing, residential, dementia and respite care, and its Dementia Unit, completed in 2011, was designed with input from the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling. The Care Quality Commission rates the home Good overall, with Good grades across all five key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

The home aims to combine good-quality care with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and a dedicated Activities Coordinator arranges entertainers and trips to local attractions. Its guiding principles are that dignity, peace and comfort come first, that there are no unnecessary rules, and that residents are supported to live as fully as possible. Hairdressing, chiropody and physiotherapy are available, and personal laundry is included in the weekly fees.
