What inspectors found

CQC: Good

Report published 21 September 2023 · Last inspected 25 July 2023

Inspectors found that staff knew people well and supported them to pursue their personal goals and live the lives they chose, including respecting their right to make their own decisions and take positive risks. Staff were described as understanding people's cultural backgrounds and communication needs, and people and their relatives were involved in shaping their care. Medicines management had improved since the previous inspection.

Strengths noted
  • Staff were safely recruited and had good knowledge of the needs and preferences of the people they supported.
  • Staff understood people's cultural needs and provided culturally appropriate care, promoting equality and diversity.
  • Staff were consistent and understood individual communication needs, helping people to communicate and understand information.
  • Staff had been trained to recognise and report abuse and knew how to apply that training.
Areas to improve
  • Care records needed further development so that all relevant information was included in people's care plans, and care plans were under review at the time of the inspection.
  • Environmental audits and checks were not always effective at identifying where improvements were needed; the registered manager addressed this after the inspection visit.
