What inspectors found

CQC: Requires improvement

Report published 5 June 2023 · Last inspected 11 April 2023

Inspectors describe B & H Care as a newly registered domiciliary service that supports adults in their own homes with personal care, supporting 52 people at the time of the visit. Medicines were handled as required, people were involved in planning their care, and people and relatives said they were treated with privacy, respect and kindness. Staff were trained in safeguarding and the registered manager was praised for how they led the service.

Strengths noted
  • People received their medicines as required, with audits helping the provider find and fix shortfalls
  • People and their representatives were involved in care planning and reviews, and their independence and choices were respected
  • Staff received induction and training, were recruited safely, and were trained in safeguarding
  • Positive feedback about the registered manager's leadership, and a complaints procedure where complaints were investigated
Areas to improve
  • Care records were not always person centred and did not always show how needs would be met and risks reduced
  • Governance systems needed improvement, including oversight of visit timings, and some people said they often felt rushed and did not always get their full visit time
  • Some staff did not understand how to support people with preparing meals, and a concern raised by one person was not responded to appropriately
